Are Staboteurs™ in Your Midst?

• Are there bullies in your workplace?
• Do you have to deal with Pit Bulls with lipstick?
• Has anyone intentionally undermined you?
• Does your workplace keep the disrupters?
• Have you ever thought about quitting?

Every workplace has them—the pit bulls that hide behind lipstick and designer clothes; snakes who flick their abrasive tongues and voice at any and all; the scorpions who sting with a slap of their heavy backhand; the skunks that seem innocent until you get in their space; and the slugs ... those who are “just there” and breathing, barely.

Stabotage!™ How to Deal with the Pit Bulls, Skunks, Snakes, Scorpions & Slugs in the Health Care Workplace reveals how to effectively deal with the bad girls and boys that inhabit every environment … be it one you get paid to be in or one you volunteer your time for.

Workplace pioneer Dr. Judith Briles has included her revised
CarefrontingScript™ dialogue, updates on the latest in communication techniques in dealing with conflict and toxic behavior and the ins and outs of determining a workplace’s true culture.

“I resigned from nursing three years ago.  I couldn’t take the attacks and abusive behavior any longer.  Management did nothing.  Their blindness caused a lot of good nurses to leave.”
Survey Respondent #82

Stabotage! is the sister book to Zapping Conflict in the Health Care Workplace.

Judith's Take ...
Lose the Losers and Keep the Keepers

Sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint the breaking point when you decide that enough is enough. Whether you’ve been overlooked for a promotion, put down by a coworker or manager or work in a toxic workplace, you’ve decided that you are out of there.

The excuse you give, and it is usually an excuse and not the real reason, is that you want to work closer to home, need more family time or have a better opportunity. Not that all of those are reasonable—they are rarely the core reason why you depart.   Read on ...

Red-ink Behavior
How to spot it, and stop it from staining your bottom line

(.pdf printable file 2919.00KB)

Picture this: Brenda has been late to work at least once a week for the past six months; Patricia knows more about the customers she works with than anyone could imagine, gleaning the information in chatty phone calls with them; Dennis doesn’t responded to any issue until it moves into chaos; Caroline habitually withholds information from her co-workers; Martha is cryptic in her communications, leaving her co-workers and managers to “guess” what she really means; Tim hates to lose control of anything — he lays “traps” for his staff by giving them inadequate information, thus requiring him to ride to the rescue when failure is imminent; Tom waits until the last minute to do any project, then gets others to drop whatever they are doing to assist him; and Bertha is just cynical about every new idea that is presented at a staff meeting.

Does any of this sound familiar? Welcome to “red-ink behavior” …

"We received overwhelmingly positive response to Judith's presentation, and talk about the "unwritten rules" continues in several departments this week.   We will use the feedback generated by her presentation to develop action plans around our customer service initiative  being implemented this fall.

Thank you again for your help in making this event meaningful and successful!
